Kadimah is a co-educational Jewish day school for boys and girls which prides itself on providing the highest standard of Jewish and secular education for children from pre-school to year 8.
Our objective is to extend our students to the best of their ability and to foster in each a lifelong love of learning, a strong sense of community and a pride in their Jewish heritage. The deeply embedded Jewish values of Kadimah provide a framework for everything the children learn and do.
Our Jewish values-driven approach to education aims to produce young people who are respectful, responsible and active members of the community. Kadimah students are taught to have strong moral character, a sense of self worth and a love of learning.
Kadimah embraces the belief that education does not stop at academic learning. By gaining knowledge of our Jewish traditions, ethics and family values – along with a love for New Zealand – our young people become caring, active, responsible members of the community.
Parents who send their children to Kadimah recognise that building strong, confident children who are ready to learn and grow instills in their children the desire and ability to be life-long learners.
Our School Motto from Rabbi Hillel
“If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?”
Hillel (born Babylon c. 110BCE – 10 CE in Jerusalem) was a famous Jewish religious leader, on of the most important figures in Jewish history. He is renowned within Judaism as a sage and scholar. He was known for his kindness, gentleness and concern of humanity. Our school Motto is one of his most famous saying recorded in the Ethics of the Fathers – a tractate of the Mishnah.
Hillel and his descendants established academies of learning and were the leaders of the Jewish community in the Land of Israel for several centuries.
